For a number of reasons the Cranleigh Lions have decided not to hold Car Boot Sales on the Showground this year, not least of which is the unreliable British weather.
For the last few years we have had to cancel a number of planned Car Boots each year at the last minute due to the rain. Postponements naturally cause uncertainty for the sellers, who support us, & the buyers who support the sellers. So we are looking for an alternative hard standing area, preferably closer to the Village centre.
For many years Cranleigh Lion members have helped the Showground Society at their Annual Agricultural Show & in return for that help the Society had let us have use of the Showground for a very generous extremely low rent. This year there is so much else going on that not enough of our members are available to help the Society at their Show, so naturally they would want to charge us Commercial Rates for our Car Boots. This would mean that we would not be able to raise enough funds to help us to help the community in the way that we like to.
As soon as we have concluded negotiations to use a large concrete based area in the Village we shall advertise extensively, on this website, in the local press, & on posters etc.
