Kerry Pink

Articles in the Daily Mail and in Woman's Own end with the words "Kerry would like to thank the Cranleigh & District Lions Club for their help. For more information see this website".

Perhaps this should really have said "For more information about the Cranleigh & District Lions Club see their website" but, as the printed version could be inferred that you will find more information about Kerry Pink on our website, we have added this page.

The Cranleigh & District Lions Club are very pleased to have contributed in a very small way to helping Kerry overcome her many difficulties. We have provided her with a laptop computer to write her story and a new wheelchair. Now Kerry would love to have her own "wet room" in her home to enable her to help herself to manage the essential necessities of washing without the continual reliance on help from carers. A wet room could also enable her to enjoy the simple pleasures that we all take for granted as and when she wanted to. If you would like to help us, to help Kerry, please complete our Gift Aid form & mark it "for Kerry", or if you would like to make a donation to our general funds for us to distribute then please use the same form without any designated request.

The Cranleigh & District Lions Club helps many local groups, individuals and families every year, in common with all Lions Clubs throughout the country and the rest of the world. Most of the requests for help come from the professional organisations such as the local Health Authority and from representatives of local schools, senior citizens groups, churches and youth groups all acting on behalf of their clients or members. Sometimes a concerned neighbour or friend will contact us on behalf of a local resident who may not know that such help is available. Every application on behalf of a family or an individual is normally kept strictly confidential with only our Welfare Chairman knowing the name of the potential recipient. Kerry Pink is a very special example of where we have been able to help and she has chosen to make her story public - and what a remarkable story it is. The Cranleigh & District Lions are very proud to know her.

You will see elsewhere in this website how we raise money to enable us to support the people in our community.

Please be aware that EVERY APPLICATION IS CAREFULLY VETTED – because, believe it or not, every now and then somebody will try to get something for nothing for themselves.

Lions Clubs are autonomous and every club makes its own decisions about where it will lend its support.
