The Cranleigh & District Lions Club are very sad to announce the loss of a long serving stalwart member of the club, Raf Lo Russo.
Raf had been a member for over 20 years and was well known throughout the local community for his selfless and tireless work for others. He had been President of the club twice, in 1996-97 & again in 2001-2002.
He also served the village in other capacities having variously run a drop-in centre for teenagers, &, before he re-married, the "Ginger Bread Club" for single Dads. On many occasions he has helped the elderly and infirm with his acknowledged skills with equipment for the disabled.
A familiar figure on Bonfire Nights, Carnivals, Car Shows & all the many other activities that he helped with, Raf often wore his brightly coloured large sombrero, or his bright yellow Lions Jacket covered with badges from other Lions Clubs he had visited.
Raf was that rare breed - a gentleman and yet "a character".
He will be very sadly missed. Our thoughts and condolences go to his wife Jeni and all his family.
