Christmas Appeal

Last year, thanks to your generosity, Cranleigh Lions provided over 100 hampers for individuals and families who otherwise would not have the luxuries that many of us have during the Christmas period. A big part of the Christmas Appeal is for Santa and his sleigh, towed by Rudolph, to visit the Cranleigh village estates handing out small gifts and sweets to the children. Sadly this year, due to the ongoing situation, it will not be possible to do this without making some changes to ensure the safety of the public and the Lions themselves.

But Santa is coming! He will not be able to hand out the gifts and sweets, but he will visit you this December, giving a big, socially distanced wave and a cheery “Ho Ho Ho”. We do hope that you will wave Santa back from your windows and door steps as he passes by.

Santa will be visiting:
Sunday 6th – Hitherwood estate starting 5pm
Tuesday 8th – Summerlands estate starting 6pm
Thursday 10th – Park Mead estate starting 6pm
Sunday 13th – Wyphurst area starting 5pm
Tuesday 15th – Cranleigh Mead area starting 6pm
Thursday 17th – Elmbridge Road area starting 6pm
Sunday 20th – The new estates (Longhurst Park, Parklands Drive, and Amlets Place) starting 5pm

As well as not handing out gifts and sweets, Lions will not be knocking on your door and asking for donations.
For this year’s Christmas Appeal the hampers will be replaced by grocery vouchers but you can support the appeal by a variety of means:

By a donation, perhaps a purchase at the Lions’ Market stall (Thursday 3rd, 10th and 17th December) between 8am and 2pm in Village Way
or
Lions will be collecting outside of Coop and Sainsburys supermarkets between 10am and 4pm on Saturdays 5th and 12th December
or
online using our donation link.

Donations can be made by electronic means (including contactless), and we still accept coin or cash.

Cranleigh Lions Club wishes everybody a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.
Let us hope we can get back to normal sometime soon.
